The mission of Kennett Area Communities That Care (CTC) is to provide mentoring and leadership development opportunities for the youth of Kennett Square.

Since its inception in 2000, Kennett CTC has been a dynamic force of collaboration and youth development in the Kennett community and has seen young lives changed through its efforts. Kennett CTC has had tremendous success in bringing key leaders and dedicated members of the community together to increase opportunities for and empower youth in Kennett through mentoring and leadership development.

Kennett CTC actively engages in addressing Kennett-specific risk factors for youth through the implementation of various prevention programs. The risks currently being addressed are:

  • A lack of commitment to school
  • Friends who engage in problem behavior

Each of Kennett CTC’s prevention programs is aimed at reducing problem behaviors, teaching youth healthy beliefs and clear standards, and targeting the risk factors specifically identified as critical to Kennett youth.

Kennett CTC partners extensively with The Garage Youth Center, a nonprofit after-school program whose mission is to help middle and high school students reach their potential. Because the visions of CTC and The Garage are so closely aligned, The Garage offers CTC space fo staff and programs, and in turn, students at The Garage benefit from the additional staff support and program opportunities that CTC provides.
